Switchgear Wiring Technician
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Starting Wage: Day Shift $24-28 /hour
Shift: either 4 10-hour days or 5 8-hour days, with the earliest start time being 6 am

IEM Canada is seeking experienced and hard-working individuals to join our team as Switchgear Wiring Technician. The ideal candidate for the position will be responsible for the wiring of control panels.
Responsibilities:
- Use wire termination and component layout tools including but not limited to strippers, wire cutters, wire crimpers, screwdrivers, tee square, machinist square, tape measure, wrenches and pliers.
- Follow company established practices for wire termination, routing, bundles, wire harnesses and wire numbers.
- Wire complete panels per drawings including back panels and wiring between devices/ components.
- Mount electrical components including circuit breakers, switches, transformers, relays, contactors, terminals, input/output devices and/or all other related switchgear electrical devices.
- Meeting production schedules while maintaining IEM’s strictest quality standards
- Assembly of LV and MV switchgear
- As required
Qualified candidates must possess:
- At least 2 years experience in assembling and wiring electrical panels, back pans, doors, etc.
- Ability to interpret drawings, work independently
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work quickly with your hands while maintaining accuracy and high quality
- Strong work ethic and motivation to learn
- Working flexible shifts as required (which may include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays)
- Must be a team player
- Basic training will be provided
Physical/Mental/Environment:
Physical Demands:
- Activities: Sitting – 5% Walking/Standing – 95%
- Lifting: Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Bending: Must be able to bend, squat, crawl and climb.
- Vision: Long periods of close work on small fonts and fine print on drawings and ability to see small or detailed items.
- Hand and arm strength: requires a strong, firm grip to hold onto wires for long periods of time
- Coordination: frequent ladder use
- Interpret, analyze, research and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Environment:
- Shop/warehouse. Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
